RÉSUMÉ
Cette parabole religieuse se déroule tour à tour sur les pentes de la Montagne des Oliviers, où Judas donne à Jésus le baiser de la trahison, et dans la vallée de Josaphat, où l’apôtre apostat, éperdu de remords vient se pendre au tronc d’un vieil olivier.

Le Moving Picture World du 3.4.1909 écrivait dans ses “Commentaires sur les sujets” : … Pathé Frères have given us a film of high dramatic merit. Perhaps too much so, for general approval, and this is the principal criticism we have to offer, that as the scenes flit over the screen it is the actor and his art that rivets the attention. Seeing the film again under differents conditions, this feeling might not be so strong, and while the greatest credit is due the company for the serious work they have performed, yet we are convinced that the leading character acted a part for which his temperament was unsuitable. Without saying more, this should make our meaning clear, and no adverse criticism would detract from its merits as a work of art - but only art…
