RÉSUMÉ

Un brave charbonnier peu habitué à ce luxe de propreté, s’est décidé cependant à aller prendre un bain. Après s’être déshabillé et mis dans la baignoire, il ouvre les deux robinets. Au bout d’un moment, s’apercevant que la baignoire déborde, il veut les refermer, efforts inutiles, il ne peut y arriver ; aussi la cabine ne tarde-t-elle pas à être inondée et ses vêtements nagent ; à genoux sur un tabouret, il cherche à les rattraper mais le tabouret fait bascule et notre malheureux tombe à la renverse, pataugeant, barbotant, ne sachant comment se tirer de ce mauvais pas.

d'après Susan Dalton : A coalman decides to have a bath. After he is in the bath he turns on the taps. After a while, he sees that the bath will overflow and he tries to turn them off but can't. The room fills with water and his clothes float away. With his knee on a stool he tries to catch them but the stool tips over and he falls back, splashing and paddling.
